Director, Philanthropy

(Maternity Leave – Term position)

The Director Philanthropy (DP) plays the lead role in planning and establishing the strategic direction and delivery of major gifts and individual giving. The incumbent will lead various activities to engage donors and grow fundraising revenue, making the United Way Southern Vancouver Island (UWSVI) the charity of choice and ensuring its place as the community leader in the sector. They will be responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of current and prospective donors. The DP will be an accomplished major gifts fundraiser ($5K+) with a breadth and depth of experience, including an understanding of complementary areas such as planned giving, annual campaigns and direct mail.

Executive Coordinator

We are looking to welcome an organized and collaborative Executive Coordinator (EC) to United Way Southern Vancouver Island. The EC reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for providing administrative support to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors in a timely and confidential manner. The EC works under the direction of the CEO but must also be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative, skill, and good judgment in meeting strategic priorities and communicating professionally with all stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a flexible and proactive thinker, who strives to complete work to a high standard, contributes towards a stakeholder-oriented culture that is inclusive and supportive, and takes pride in assisting the UWSVI team to achieve its goals.

The EC communicates with a variety of stakeholders including donors, partner service providers, team members, and Board members to ensure UWSVI remains trusted, accountable, efficient, and effective.
