United Way Greater Victoria (UWGV)’s Local Love in a Global Crisis Fund is available to help our community non-profits in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund is intended to meet the increased demand for services and supports while keeping staff, and the people they serve, safe in the current environment.

We recognize your method of delivery of programs and services likely has changed dramatically.  You may have discovered new issues, challenges and opportunities.  All will be considered as they relate directly to COVID-19.

Funding requests for up to $35,000 will be accepted and must be directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic response and the human and material repercussions it generates.

Funding will be made available for 4-8 awards to community agencies to meet short term/immediate needs related to the impact of COVID-19 in the following three areas:

Help for Seniors – meals, medication and other necessities they need as well as providing friendly phone calls or virtual visits.

Mental Health and Addictions Needs virtual counselling, mental health care and addictions support for clients.

Not-for-Profit Sector Support – assistance for non-profits to adapt and increase social services and supports.

Community collaborations are encouraged.

As additional funds become available, and further needs are identified, an additional phase of applications may be developed and released to support longer-term needs.
Note: We expect a high volume of requests, and will ensure that they are reviewed as quickly as possible. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
