Love your community? Then help us reach our $5 million goal!

VICTORIA, BCTre isn’t on the streets because a local youth program – funded in part by United Way – caught him at a critical turning point in his life. Now he’s working as a sales associate at a skate shop in Victoria.

United Way is at a critical point in our fundraising campaign: we’re just over half way there. Our goal is $5 million for the year. We’ve raised just over $2.5 million.

So what kind of work can $2.5 million do in the community?

  • Fund 14 programs to help kids be all they can be
  • Fund 9 programs that build pathways out of poverty for individuals
  • Fund 22 programs that build strong communities
  • Fund bc211 – a free, confidential phone, text and online service that connects Vancouver Islanders to community, government and social services.

None of the work United Way does in the community would be possible without the generosity of our donors and our partners.

Caring and giving is the icing on the cake of a strong community. Show your local love and give today.

BACKGROUND: United Way ‘unites’ the generosity of people – business, labour, government and individual donors – with the skills, knowledge and expertise in our community to help those in need. This collaborative approach is building a stronger, more resilient community to serve current and future generations.  Last year, United Way Greater Victoria raised $5 million, funding 29 programs for children and youth; 18 programs to help people in poverty; and 44 programs to build strong communities, including bc211. We helped 87,000 people.
