Capital Daily’s Holiday Donation Drive in partnership with United Way will match funds up to $75,000 until December 31, 2021

Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ territories | Dec. 3, 2021 – This past year has been a challenge for all of us and United Way Southern Vancouver Island is partnering with Capital Daily once again to make things a little brighter for local families in need.

Building on the success of last year’s holiday donation drive that raised $150K, all gifts made to this year’s campaign made before December 31, 2021 will be matched dollar for dollar up to $75,000 by Capital Daily, Tiny Foundation, Lake Family’s All One Fund, Lochside Software, Inc. and other local partners.

This is the second annual Capital Daily Holiday Fundraising Drive in partnership with United Way. The recipients of the donation drive are once again local neighbourhood houses in the Greater Victoria area including: Beacon Community Association, Burnside Gorge Community Centre, Esquimalt Neighbourhood House Society, Fairfield Gonzales Community Association, Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group, James Bay Community Project, Oaklands Community Association, Quadra Village Community Centre, Saanich Neighbourhood Place and Sooke Family Resource Society.

Neighbourhood houses are committed to healthy children, youth, families and individuals and offer a range of programs and services including counselling and outreach, pre-natal and post-natal support, preschool and childcare programs, parenting courses, food security programs, fitness classes, clothing and toy exchanges and much more.

“Having resources available close to home are why neighbourhood houses are so vitally important,” said Mark Breslauer, CEO of United Way Southern Vancouver Island. “United Way Southern Vancouver Island has been a funder, collaborator and advocate of neighbourhood houses for over 30 years. This year has been difficult for so many so we are asking once again for the community to come together to help local families who are struggling.”

Please donate today to have your entire gift matched up to $75,000. All donations received by December 31, 2021 will be eligible for a 2021 tax receipt.
