How volunteers lift communities

United Way believes that at the heart of a strong community are people who care for those around them.

Caring for others can take many forms. It can be as simple as holding the door open for someone or picking up groceries for a neighbour recovering from surgery.

It can be demonstrated through donations to a charity or through volunteerism by way of personal time and effort.

When we volunteer, our spirits are lifted with the opportunity to work with others. Our sense of purpose is magnified when we see how our efforts have helped someone else. Our confidence grows when we gain skills and experience through volunteering. Volunteering enhances one’s connection to  community.

Here at United Way, we are privileged to have community leaders provide governance by volunteering to serve on our Board of Directors. Our Community Campaign Cabinet and individual employee campaign chairs  around the CRD all volunteer their time and bring passion to help raise funds and act as champions for the United Way.

None of the work we do in the community would be possible without the support of so many donors and  volunteers.

So during this year’s National Volunteer Week, we want to give a huge THANK YOU for your wonderful support!
