Year-end Message from our CEO

A Message from our CEO

With the final weeks of 2021 upon us, I’m reflecting on how very difficult a year it has been for residents across Southern Vancouver Island.

COVID isn’t just going to fade away. The level of need in our community remains high and the emotional, social, and financial impacts of the pandemic – coupled with the recent severe floods across the province – have further challenged individuals and families.

Thanks to your support:

• Every week, we deliver 1,200 meals and vitally important companionship to local isolated seniors through our More than Meals program

• Our Blue Love Campaign for Mental Health has raised $500K to fund 12 community-based mental health providers so that when someone like Tiffany reaches out for help, they aren’t faced with a long waitlist.

• The Little Phoenix Daycare, a first in BC, is getting ready to open its doors in January to help children who have faced trauma in their young lives.

• We have helped launch the Tools for Equity training program to address racial disparities and employment barriers faced by immigrants, refugees and communities of colour in the Capital Regional District.

But there is so much more to be done.

Will you help our community rebuild and recover?

Emerging and rebuilding in the wake of the pandemic will require a concerted, unified effort that brings together individuals and organizations across all sectors working with a common purpose. We must all work together.

You can help. Please consider giving.

Gifts received by December 31, 2021 will receive a charitable tax receipt for this year.

Thank you for your consideration and best of the holiday season to you,

Sincerely,

Mark Breslauer, CEO
